Enoch Dodge, one of the first
two settlers in Delano Township and a principal developer
in the 1880's, erected this house in 1887. The house was
built in the Queen Anne style with Eastlake detailing
typified by the lavish use of perforation patterns,
curved brackets with sunburst designs, spindled posts and
balustrades. The two-story, fourteen room home has a
wraparound front porch, bay windows, original stained
glass and decorative knobs. The second floor features elaborate
triple windows on the gabled ends with sunburst
decorations. Originally a farmstead, the house is located
near the streets of Dodge, Elizabeth, Glenn, Martinson
and Fern, all of which were named after members of
Enoch's family.
